Wedding arch ideas for an orangery ceremony start with a light, structured arch at the front of the room. The Wedding House built a real ceremony arch in the Tortworth Court Orangery. This guide covers arch shape, colour, flower density and outdoor ceremonies, with what we would avoid.
Wedding arch ideas matter most in a glass room, where the arch tells guests where to look. The Wedding House is a wedding decor hire business based in Droitwich Spa. We have built a real ceremony arch inside the Tortworth Court Orangery. This guide covers what worked and how to choose your own.
In a room of stone windows and a domed glass roof, the arch is the piece that directs the eye. Without it, a striking room can feel undirected during the ceremony.
At a real wedding in the Tortworth Court Orangery, we placed a broken floral arch at the front of the room. It came from our Penelope collection, in pale pink, lilac, blue and ivory. It became the focal point without competing with the architecture.
Daylight changes through the day under a glass roof. A lighter, airier arch photographs well against it. A heavy, dark arch can look flat against bright glass.
There is no single correct arch shape, but the room should guide your choice. A tall, narrow arch draws the eye up and suits high ceilings. A wider, lower arch feels more grounded. It keeps the focus at guest eye level.
For an orangery, we usually recommend an arch with some visible structure. Stone and glass have strong, clean lines. A framed arch sits better against them than a very soft, fully draped one.
Match your arch colours to the room’s light, not only to your palette. In a bright glass room, deep colours can look darker than expected in photographs. Pale and mixed tones hold their colour better. The pale tones of our Penelope collection suited the Orangery for that reason.
More flowers are not always better. A tightly packed arch can look heavy in a light-filled room. Denser focal points with looser, trailing elements look more natural. Judge it in person if you can, at our showroom in Droitwich Spa.
Tortworth Court also offers an outdoor ceremony in its grounds, overlooking the arboretum. The venue’s website calls the structure its ceremony pagoda.
An outdoor arch works differently. Wind and weather affect how flowers hold up, so we use a sturdier structure and more secure fixings. We always plan an indoor back-up. Where possible, the arch can move indoors with you at short notice.
Do not choose an arch only because it looks good in photographs of other venues. A design that suits a barn or marquee may not suit a stone and glass room. Ask to see real examples from a similar space before you commit.
A tall, narrow arch usually suits a high, glass roofed room. It draws the eye up and works with the architecture.
Pale and mixed tones hold their colour best in bright, naturally lit rooms. Test this in person at a showroom if you can.
Yes, in most cases. At a real Tortworth Court wedding, the aisle flowers moved to the top table.
Yes, mainly for practical reasons. Outdoor arches need sturdier fixings and an indoor back-up plan.
We recommend booking as soon as your date and ceremony location are confirmed. Peak season weekends go quickly.
