Tortworth Court Wedding Decor Hire

The Wedding House, based in Droitwich Spa, provides wedding decor hire and venue styling at Tortworth Court in South Gloucestershire. We’ve styled around six weddings at this Grade II listed mansion, most recently a full styled shoot in the Orangery. This page covers what we’ve learned about styling each of Tortworth Court’s wedding spaces, from the Orangery’s domed glass roof to the more contemporary Westminster Suite.

Why trust Us

This isn’t a generic venue listing. The Wedding House has a 98% recommendation rate from 385 reviews on Facebook, and every observation on this page about styling Tortworth Court’s rooms comes from Kate Wicks and the in-house design team’s direct experience working there, not a description written from the venue’s brochure alone. You can also see examples of our work in person at our Droitwich Spa showroom, by appointment.

The Orangery – styling Tortworth Court’s showpiece room

The Orangery is Tortworth Court’s standout wedding space, and where The Wedding House offers the most direct styling experience. It’s a domed-glass Victorian conservatory, built in 1874, with stone windows, its own bar, and its own entrance. Many couples use it as a single all-day room – ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening reception in one space, with a turnaround in between.
At a July wedding here, we styled the Orangery using our Poppy range, with the ceremony arch positioned at the front of the room. Kate specifically highlighted how well this looked against the Orangery’s architecture, the arch became the natural focal point without competing with the glass roof and stonework around it.
Our approach here is to let the room do some of the work. The Orangery already has strong architectural character, so styling should complement it rather than compete. We focus the budget on what photographs and has the biggest impact: the ceremony aisle and focal point, tables, florals and candlelight. A mix of statement florals with lower, candle-led styling tends to balance well against the room’s height and glass. We build a strong focal point at the end of the aisle and lead the eye toward it with aisle styling either side.
For exact guest capacities for ceremony and wedding breakfast layouts in the Orangery, check directly with Tortworth Court – these vary depending on your table plan, and we’d rather send you to the venue for a confirmed number than estimate one here.

Westminster Suite – styling Tortworth Court’s larger space

The Westminster Suite is Tortworth Court’s largest and most contemporary wedding room, with floor-to-ceiling windows onto the grounds and air conditioning. It can also be partitioned into smaller sections for a more intimate wedding. This is Kate’s professional recommendation for the room, based on her broader venue-styling expertise rather than a specific Wedding House wedding held here. We’ll update this page with a first-hand example once we’ve confirmed one.
Scale matters far more in this room than in the Orangery. Small pieces disappear against the Westminster Suite’s size, so we recommend a few stronger focal points rather than spreading a styling budget thin; think statement table centres, a backdrop or floral feature, candles, lighting and a clearly defined dance floor area. If the room is partitioned down for a smaller wedding, we style for the space you’re actually using, not the space at its full size.

Victoria Suite – styling Tortworth Court’s intimate room

The Victoria Suite is a smaller, wood-panelled room with original features and high ceilings, suited to more intimate weddings. As with the Westminster Suite, this is Kate’s professional recommendation rather than a confirmed first-hand Wedding House job in this specific room.
Don’t overcrowd it. The existing character – the panelling, the original features. does a lot of the work already. Candlelight, considered florals, and elegant table styling tend to work better here than oversized pieces or decorating every corner, which can make a small room feel busy rather than intimate.

Outdoor ceremonies at Tortworth Court

Tortworth Court also offers an outdoor ceremony option in its grounds, set within the wider 30-acre estate and historic arboretum. We style outdoor ceremonies here to work with the setting, not against it — a statement ceremony feature plus considered aisle styling is often enough, since the grounds themselves provide the backdrop.
Weather is the main practical consideration for any outdoor ceremony in South Gloucestershire. We always plan an indoor contingency, and where possible we style so that key pieces – the ceremony arch and aisle florals- can move indoors with you if the ceremony needs to relocate at short notice.

What we’ve learned styling weddings at Tortworth Court

Couples planning a wedding here tend to ask us the same handful of questions: how much decor they actually need, what to spend their budget on, whether a table will look bare without something on it, and whether ceremony flowers can be reused in the reception.
The honest answer is that Tortworth Court’s rooms don’t need decorating from top to bottom. A large part of our job here is reassuring couples they don’t need to decorate every surface – the Orangery’s glass roof and stonework, the Victoria Suite’s panelling, and the grounds around an outdoor ceremony are already doing visual work for you. Yes, ceremony florals can usually be moved into the reception space, which is one of the simplest ways to stretch a styling budget at any Tortworth Court wedding.
Real venue-styling expertise comes from having physically worked in a room – understanding its scale, its natural light, how it turns around between ceremony and reception, and what actually photographs well. Tortworth Court is a good example of why that matters: the Orangery, Westminster Suite, and Victoria Suite genuinely need different approaches, and an outdoor ceremony here needs its own weather-led plan.

What sells well at a Tortworth Court wedding

Based on our experience styling here, the pieces that make the biggest difference are: ceremony florals and a statement arch or feature Wedding Arches, Chair Decor, Table Centrepieces and Stands, Tealights and Candles, and table runners, Napkins and Rings, Charger Plates and Mats.
If your budget is tighter, prioritise the ceremony focal point and the tables – these get the most guest attention and the most time in front of a camera.
We’d rather steer you toward fewer, stronger styling elements than lots of small items that don’t land in a room like the Orangery.
What we’d avoid: choosing centrepieces purely because they look good on Pinterest, without thinking about table size, sightlines or how the room actually reads on the day. More decor doesn’t automatically improve a Tortworth Court wedding; the venue itself does a lot of the heavy lifting already.

The Orangery generally needs the least styling to look complete, since its architecture already does a lot of the visual work. We’d focus a smaller budget on the ceremony arch and tables here first.

Yes, in most cases. Ceremony florals from the Orangery or an outdoor ceremony can usually be repositioned for your wedding breakfast or evening reception, which stretches your styling budget further.

What happens if it rains for an outdoor ceremony at Tortworth Court?

We always plan an indoor contingency for outdoor ceremonies here. Where possible, we style key pieces so they can move indoors with your ceremony at short notice.

Does Tortworth Court allow real candles and other decor items?

This is worth confirming directly with Tortworth Court when you book, as venue policies on candles, confetti and installation can vary. We’ll always align our styling with whatever the venue has approved for your date.

What size wedding parties suit the Westminster Suite versus the Orangery?

The Westminster Suite can flex for larger weddings and can also be partitioned for smaller ones, while the Orangery suits a more traditional all-day format. Check exact guest capacities for your layout directly with Tortworth Court.
